Writer’s Coffeehouse in Doylestown…this afternoon.

WRITERS COFFEEHOUSE THIS SUNDAY hosted by JONATHAN MABERRY

This is actually a lie. Jonathan can’t make it this time, but we’ll have a few of the usual suspects in the house to move things along.

Sunday, April 26, from noon to 3pm at the SAXBY COFFEE (formerly Bucks County Coffeehouse in Doylestown PA for a free writers networking session). Map here.

This is a free event –open to everyone. No requirements necessary.

It’s a bunch of writers sitting around talking about writing…with coffee. No agenda…just chat about the latest trends in the industry, about markets, about pitching and selling, about frustration, about keeping the inner fires alight, about dealing with our families, about how damn tough it is to make it as a writer at the best of times and what writers can do to stay afloat in these troubled economic waters.

No previous publishing experience necessary…the Writers Coffeehouse attracts everyone from absolute beginner to award-winners and bestsellers. We’re all writers. Regina Brooks, Mike Geffner and Marcela Landres

Some of you know me from the local writer’s groups I haunt whenever I get the chance. The  Philadelphia Writer’s Meetup, Mike Geffner’s group in NYC and Maberry’s Coffeehouse get most of my free time, but I’ve managed to connect with a bunch of other groups over the years, learned a ton, and met some crazy assed people too. I also got my car booted in front of Double Shots once and was locked up another time on the way home from Letitica Harmon’s crit group in East Brunswick; but that can happen anywhere, right?

I can’t say enough about the value of these casually structured hangouts, both in the stuff I’ve learned and the friends I’ve made. Sometimes they’re better than others, but with what we pay to attend workshops and classes, the price is right. Frequently what you can learn at these sessions is the stuff they don’t teach you in class.

So come on out and join us. Grab a cup of coffee and head downstairs to the Conference Room.

And let me know about the real-life and online writing communities you like. I’d love to stop by.
